This is a list of phones that might survive the Hochul ban. (https://www.governor.ny.gov/sites/default/files/2025-01/Education-Labor-and-Family-Assistance-Article-VII-Bill_NYS-FY-2026_Executive-Budget.pdf) According to Governor Hochul, any device that uses the Internet is banned from being used in schools other than in an emergency, if required for translation, is school-issued and for educational purposes, or is required in your IEP. This really only applies for the NY ban policy, because your school might just straight up ban ALL phones whenever or not they support the Internet or not. These phones only really have support for calls and text messaging and should also survive the 2G/3G shutdown as well, as they support LTE. I wouldn’t say buy them now though - the laws still changing and stuff might change and that your school could just set the policy to ban ALL phones in the end, which is more likely since it’s probably going to be a pain for teachers to determine which phones can and can’t work.
